The Northern Ecosystems Research for Undergraduates program is an NSF-funded endeavor that allows undergraduates to experience conducting research in a sub-arctic ecosystem. The program, directed by Dr. Ruth Varner of the University of New Hampshire, brings students to Abisko, Sweden each summer to conduct individual research projects at the Abisko Scientific Research Station. More information about the station can be found by clicking here.

Each year, students design and implement projects in a variety of fields ranging from biogeochemistry to fungal ecology. Students learn the value of professional collaboration through contacts with UNH faculty, resident scientists at the research station in Abisko, and each other.

This blog is designed to showcase the work of these students and document their research projects and experiences at UNH and in Abisko.
